On February 6th local time, two 7.8-magnitude earthquakes successively hit the southeast Turkey, accompanied by several aftershocks with different magnitudes. The epicenters of the two strong earthquakes were close to the construction site of the Hunutlu Power Plant Project in Turkey contracted by the Second Project Management Department of Henan D.R.with strenuous tremor.
After the earthquake, the Project Department attached great importance to and responded quickly. According to the emergency response requirements of Henan D,R., after confirming the safety of all personnel on site, the self-inspection of potential disasters were carried out as soon as possible. On the morning of Feb. 6th, Sang Runxi, the deputy project manager, led a team to identify comprehensive potential dangers of all unit projects in the construction bid section undertaken by Henan D.R., and confirmed that there were no hidden hazards of the cooling tower and the structure of the Eurosilo, and the T2, T3, T4, T5 transfer stations and the coal handling trestle system were operating normally, so as to ensure that all unit projects had no structural safety hazards, and to provide guarantee for the stable operation of the power plant after the earthquake. Faced with the crucible of strong earthquake, the project has stood the racket of two 7.8-magnitude earthquakes, fully reflecting the Henan D.R.’s quality concept---quality is everything, and brand is the value.
According to the latest news from the governments of Turkey and Syria and related rescue authorities on Feb. 8th, the earthquake has killed more than 11,000 people in both countries, injured about 54,000 people, and collapsed or damaged a large number of houses to varying degrees. After the earthquake, the Project Department immediately contacted all local employees to ask about their safety and living conditions, and purchased a batch of daily necessities to make donations and condolences to the local employees to satisfy the urgent needs at once.
Among them, Fatih, the local safety engineer of the Project Department, lives in Iskenderun, the worst-hit area, which is 68 kilometers away from the epicenter of the earthquake. His family has been temporarily been in the government shelter for two days because of the serious damage to their houses. Now they are staying at the home of their relatives in Adana. İBrahim, a personnel of local subcontracting team, whose home is in the town near the project, lives in the temporary tent set up in his own yard for the moment due to the serious damage to the house, facing the challenge of survival after the disaster.
Subsequently, the Project Department will pay high attention to the post-disaster daily problems of local employees, continue to carry out post-earthquake condolences and donations, give them the assistance as much as possible, and highlight the responsibility and accountability of Chinese enterprises.
