Invested and constructed together by Huaneng Shandong Power Generation Company and Shandong Ruyi Group Company, Huaneng Shandong Ruyi Pakistan Sahiwal 2×660MW Coal-fired Power Plant Project is located 15 kilometers northeast of Sahiwal, Punjab, Pakistan.
Huaneng Shandong Ruyi Pakistan Sahiwal 2×660MW Coal-fired Power Plant Project was officially completed and put into operation on July 3, 2017. Currently, it is a large-scale green coal-fired power plant with the largest installed capacity, the most advanced technology, the best environmental protection indicators and the fastest construction speed in Pakistan. It is the first to be put into production in the China-Pakistan economic corridor. All of these set a new record for the construction of overseas coal-fired power projects in China and create “Sahirwal Speed” and “Sahirwal Quality”. This project has been praised by the Pakistani government as “a miracle in the history of Pakistan's electric power construction” and praised by People's Daily in China and Dawn in Pakistan.
Since the commencement of the project, it has won more than 100 provincial and ministerial awards in China and Pakistan, and won the “Outstanding Contribution Award” awarded by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. At the same time, it won the first batch of national high quality project gold prize in 2018-2019, thus becoming the first overseas project on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to win this award.
