The commencement ceremony of the rehabilitation of OKWUDOR-AWO OMAMMA Road in IMO State undertaken by Henan D.R. Construction Nigeria Ltd. was held on Oct. 29 in the AWO OMAMMA Town. We won the bidding for the project on Oct. 19, 2020.
At 11 o'clock in the morning, Governor of IMO State Hope Uzodinma, Speaker of the State House of Representatives Collins Chiji, Commissioner for Works, local government officials and local religious leaders attended the ceremony. Assistant to the General Manager of Henan D.R. and Executive Manager of Henan D.R. Construction Nigeria Ltd. Hao Zhanheng, Deputy Manager of Henan D.R. Construction Nigeria Ltd. Wang Zhongliang, and Project Manager Qi Kefeng were also present at the ceremony. It was reported by Nigerian state television NTC and many local medias.
Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has flagged off the construction of the 12 kilometer Awo-Omamma-Okwudor Road in Oru East and Njaba Local Government Areas of Imo State. The road which past administrations ignored for reasons known to them will be completed in 18 months time, according to the governor. The governor said he has engaged a reputable company known as HENAN D.R. to “do a world class road that will compete with any other construction anywhere in the world.” He said Awo-Omamma-Okwudor road will have double drainage and will help to address the road infrastructural deficit in Imo State as well as improve the economic activities in the two Local Governments in particular and Imo State in general. Governor Uzodimma said the road is part of government’s efforts to strengthen the economic activities in Imo and to “help the rural farmers in the area to be able to evacuate their farm proceeds to the urban areas and maximize the gains of their agricultural output.”
The Commissioner for Works, Barr. Raph Nwosu who gave a brief history of the road said it has broken down for the past 20 years and became a source of concern to the Shared Prosperity Government in Imo State, hence the need for the construction.
Subsequently, the State Governor cut the ribbon for the commencement of the road.
The day before the commencement ceremony, Hao Zhanheng, Assistant to the General Manager of Henan D.R., met with the Commissioner for Works, thanked the state government for its trust and recognition of Henan D.R., and wished a smooth progress for the project. Being the EPC of the project means we must shoulder an enormous burden. With sufficient preliminary preparations and a detailed overall plan, Henan D.R. will give full play to the advantages of an international company, optimize resource allocation, strengthen localized management, and ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
The 12-kilometer road construction project undertaken by Henan D.R. will be completed within 6 months under the contract. The main works include earthwork, 3 bridge and culvert projects, drainage ditch and cover, asphalt pavement and ancillary works with a total contract amount of N997,097,222.50, equivalent to about 15 million yuan. It is the first road project undertaken by Henan D.R. Construction Nigeria Ltd., which is of great significance to the future development of the Nigerian market.
The successful holding of the commencement ceremony indicates that the project has entered a substantial construction stage. In the run-up to the construction process, Henan D.R. Construction Nigeria Ltd. will keep the mission of overseas development in mind, establish the "HENAN D.R." brand, keep improving the quality, and efficiently complete the project with fine management.
