In order to show the talent of youth, discover and cultivate excellent English talents, and promote Henan D.R.'s overseas development, jointly organized by the Youth League Committee, Human Resources Department and Overseas Business Department of Henan D.R., “The third English Reading Contest” was successfully held on May 29 in the meeting room of the headquarter of the company.
Leaders including Chairman of Henan D.R. Huang Daoyuan, Party Secretary Zhang Huimin, Deputy Chairman Niu Xiaochang and Cheng Cunpan, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Chen Baibin, Labor Union Chairman Zhai WuHan, Deputy General Manager Ma Xiangjuan, Wang Chunling, Chen Jianzhong and Zhang Junfeng, Chief Economist Wu Xinyong, Director of International Commerce Wang Zheng, Human Resources Director Zhang Haomin, etc., all attach great importance to this contest and attended this activity. Dr. Zhai Yadi from Henan University of Economics and Law and five other teachers were invited to serve as judges. Yuan Zongguang from the overseas business department is the host for this contest.
The contest was divided into two parts, the preliminaries and the finals. A total of 34 people from units affiliated to Henan D.R. participated in the preliminaries held in the morning of May 29. After a tense contest, 15 of them were qualified for the next stage, the final contest. The final was broadcast live on PC and mobile simultaneously, allowing everyone to watch the wonderful performance of the players on time.
During the final contest, in combination of their own working and life experience, players shared the beautiful FIJI-A Country in the Pacific and My work experience, and delivered the inspiring We Are The World, We Are The Future and the refreshing Let life be beautiful like summer flowers. The aspiring young people refine the essence of idea in the baptism of life and improve their skills in the work step by step, which reflects the young employees’ responsibility in self-improvement and corporate development and social progress. They won unanimous praise from the audience.
During the contest, the host prepared 12 interesting questions for the audience to answer. They actively participated in the interaction and answered the questions, pushing the atmosphere of the event to a climax.
After a fierce competition, with fluent English and confident display, Du Yonghui from the Overseas Business Department won the first prize. Liu Yun, from the Design Branch, and Duan Yanhua from the Overseas Business Department, won the second prize. Li Xingya from the Overseas Business Department won the third prize, and 9 players including Chao Qi from the Second Project Management Department won the honorable mention. Leaders present respectively awarded certificates and prizes to the winners.
After the contest, Dr. Zhai Yadi from Henan University of Economics and Law made wonderful comments for the players in pronunciation, interaction, emotional expression and content.
Zhang Huimin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Henan D.R., first congratulated the winners, thanked the company Youth League Committee, Human Resources Department and Overseas Business Department for their careful organization, the professional comments made by the judges, and the units for their support for the competition. He also highly praised the plays’ performance. Secretary Zhang said that in the context of Henan D.R. participating in the international world, the English reading contest came into being and become a high-quality platform for the young employees of the company to show themselves. Through English reading, these players have interpreted the new connotation of youth, struggle, success and friendship and conveyed the strength and spirit of overcoming difficulties and moving forward, which resonates with everyone and adds to the company's cultural construction. Secretary Zhang pointed out that the continuous development and growth of the company cannot be separated from the hard work of all aspiring young people, and hoped everyone actively improve themselves, grow and develop together with the enterprise.
Huang Daoyuan, Chairman of Henan D.R., fully recognized the English proficiency shown by the contestants from different units and different positions, and praised everyone for their communication skills possessed for working in overseas projects. Chairman Huang said that the English reading contest has stimulated everyone's enthusiasm in learning English, and created a strong learning atmosphere within the company. It is a positive response to the group company's overseas development strategy. Young people should give full play to their advantages, keep learning, be brave to speak English and keep improving English skill. Taking the projects in Turkey, Pakistan and other countries as examples, Chairman Huang pointed out that the company's overseas market layout has gradually made achievements, and a large number of people knowing English and good at communication need to go out to carry out projects. He encouraged everyone to be brave to go overseas, broaden life experience, and accumulate spiritual wealth, and promote the company's overseas development strategy.
As the third English reading contest held by Henan D.R., this event fully demonstrated the English ability and youthful style of young employees of the company, and provided a platform for the company to reserve outstanding international young talents.
